Voice Found Turns 15
Today marks Voice Found’s 15th birthday.
While the idea for Voice Found began two years earlier, it became real on the day we received our Letters Patent—the day Voice Found officially became incorporated.
I still remember opening the mail and seeing that letter signed by the Minister of Industry. In that moment, I was flooded with conflicting emotions. I was overwhelmed, uncertain, and deeply afraid. My life was in turmoil. I was full of self-doubt, broke, and navigating family challenges. I wondered how I would ever be able to do what I felt called to do.
That single piece of paper represented a commitment to my dream… and yet I also felt completely paralyzed by the weight of it.
Even then, I wasn’t alone.
There were people who had supported me to that point. Good friends who believed in my vision and believed in me. They saw me. They heard me. They encouraged me gently and consistently, especially when I struggled to believe in myself.
To this day, I remember each one. I remember who donated funds so I could get the training I needed. I remember who helped me buy training materials, and who made it possible for me to file the paperwork to incorporate. Their care and support are part of the very fabric of this organization.
Many threads. Many gifts. All woven together into a beautiful tapestry.
And now, 15 years later, Voice Found employs 17 people and is supported by 8 volunteers, all of whom provide the specialized, trauma-informed care needed to help survivors of childhood sexual abuse, exploitation, and human trafficking rebuild their lives.
As we celebrate this milestone, I’m holding so much gratitude—for the survivors who trust us, for the staff and volunteers who show up with care and courage, our funders, and for the community members who make this work possible. If Voice Found has ever touched your heart, helped someone you love, or reminded you that healing is possible, I invite you to be part of what comes next. Your donation helps ensure survivors can access safe, specialized support—when they need it most.
Donate today to honour 15 years of Voice Found and support survivor healing..
