Call for Board Members

Voice Found is embarking on a landmark year and seeking senior-level leaders to join our Board of Directors. We have a particular need for individuals with expertise in the following areas: healthcare leadership, finance, and fundraising.

About Voice Found: Founded in 2011, Voice Found is a survivor-led national charitable organization providing trauma-informed support, healthcare, peer programming, prevention education, and long-term recovery services for individuals impacted by human trafficking, exploitation, and childhood sexual abuse.

Board Overview:  Members of Voice Found’s board of .directors provide legal governance, financial oversight, and ensure we are fulfilling our mission.with expertise in the following areas: healthcare leadership, finance, and fundraising. We strive for diversity and applicants are invited to self-identify as a member of any of following community/designated groups: Indigenous, person with disabilities, member of a visible minority group/racialized person, LGBTQ+. Self-disclosure is voluntary, and information is held in confidence.

Meeting and Time Commitment: The Voice Found Board of Directors meets 5 - 6 times a year as a whole with committee meetings  3-4 times a year. All meetings are delivered in a hybrid fashion. We estimate no more than 5 hours a month including meeting time. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare for and participate in board and committee meetings;

  • Fulfill governance and stewardship role to ensure the long term success of the organization;

  • Promote the organization and its mission in the community at large, and open doors where possible;

  • Engage with key stakeholders including funders, partners, donors and supporters;

  • Participate in fundraising efforts;

  • Help the Board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities including approval and oversight of the annual budget;

  • Assist in the development, review and update of board policies and governance structures.

  • Participate in strategic planning sessions;

  • Monitor the financial performance of Voice Found and participate in the approval of the annual budget

  • Evaluate the performance of the CEO

Application Process: Individuals who are Canadian residents may apply for appointment to the Board.

Individuals selected for interviews will be contacted and interviewed by members of the committee. Nominated directors will be presented and elected at our AGM to be held in late September.
